Boeing wins US Congress backing over 737-Max-7 and -10 aircraft

Boeing has won backing from the US Congress to waive a deadline that would have threatened production of the 737 MAX-7 and -10, reports Reuters.

The company had been under pressure to comply with a 27 December deadline setting a new safety standard for cockpit alerts following two 737 MAX crashes, in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

Boeing’s CEO had threatened to axe the production programme for the MAX 10 unless Congress gave the company a waiver.
