Air Austral's route to India will resume on 6 May, 2022. These flights will be operated with a new Airbus A220-300 which joined the airline's fleet last August as part of the complete renewal of its medium-haul fleet. The reopening of the Chennai route is in line with the gradual resumption of Air Austral's regional network, especially to Madagascar.

At the end of March, Air Austral had to cancel its Reunion Island-Tamatave service as its flight programme was still limited to two frequencies per week between Reunion Island and Tananarive. The airline is still waiting for an official approval of its programme for the IATA season which started on 27 March. Consequently, the airline has withdrawn the Tamatave route for the coming weeks.

In order to meet travel demand to and from Madagascar, Air Austral intends operating its pre-crisis flight programme, which included up to 16 frequencies per week and 6 destinations namely Antananarivo, Tamatave, Nosy Be, Tulear, Fort Dauphin and Diego Suarez.Air Austral says that it is ready to sign a code-share agreement with Madagascar Airlines to ensure a  balance and reciprocity in operations.

Air Austral's regional network includes services to Mayotte (9 weekly flights), Mauritius (one to four flights per day), Madagascar (Tananarive with 4 flights per week), Johannesburg (3 flights per week), Seychelles (two flights per week) and  Comoros (two flights per week).

Air Austral also plans to strengthen its long-haul flight programme between Reunion Island and Paris as well as Mayotte and Paris.
