AIME / MRO Day 2 - Show Wrap

It's the second day of AIME and MRO Middle East and our coverage - brought to you with the support of Joramco - focuses on supply chain challenges and changing cabin interior demands, as well as opportunities for emerging markets.

Brian Kough, Senior director, Aviation Week Network explains to Jill Stockbridge how the region is out-performing the rest of the world with widebody recovery.

But across the spectrum, from heavy maintenance specialists to parts suppliers, the view is that the continuing shortages of raw materials, spares, shipping capacity and skilled manpower aren’t going away any time soon. So it’s going to be a rocky road in MRO for at least another couple of years.

We look at how the venture between AFI-KLM and Saffran Nacelles, AMES, has more than double revenues and invested in new technology for complex repairs in their Dubai station.

Africa is another region where investment is likely. Jordan’s Joramco is looking to develop engineering training in Ghana while EgyptAir is reviving plans for West Africa as well as more than a dozen MRO sites across the continent.

Changing customer demand, such as online gaming, is shaping what airlines need to provide in the cabin, with connectivity trumping content.

Panasonic’s Tom Eskola explains the latest thinking while Klaus-Peter Leinauer VP Group Commercial for HAECO explains why Premium Economy has been given a boost by Covid.
