Turkey’s defence manufacturing has stepped up a gear with a firm date for the roll-out of the MMU stealthy tactical fighter aircraft alongside the first flight of its ATAK 2 combat helicopter and the Hurjet advanced jet trainer.

Defence editor Jon Lake shares the inside story on the latest Turkish projects with news from the IDEF show in Turkey where Turkish Aerospace also gave details on the MIUS its Unmanned Combat Aircraft System which will be used as a ‘loyal wingman’ to support the National Combat Aircraft, and as a light attack aircraft on board the new Turkish landing ship - the Anadolu.

The breakdown in relations between the UAE and Italy could have consequences for the Gulf state’s aerobatic display team. Guest Alan Warnes, group editor at large for Air Forces Monthly explains to Alan Peaford why the grounding of the ream could hamper plans for special anniversaries in the emirates – and for the Dubai Airshow. However, another European nation could be stepping in to help.
