EgyptAir to begin flights to Scandinavia

EgyptAir is to add to its claim to be the preferred hub linking Europe with Africa as a Star Alliance partnerby operning a new route between Cairo and Copenhagen

The airline has today announced it will operate three direct weekly flights to Copenhagen starting from the 1st of October 2010.

The flights will be on Fridays, Sundays, and Wednesdays.

“Because of the increasing demand on travel to and from this region, EgyptAir  took the decision of inaugurating this important route which serves the Egyptian and European investors in both countries.” Said Eng. Hussien Massoud, EGYPTAIR Holding Chairman and CEO. He added “Egypt is the natural link between Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The Danish authorities boost the materialization of the decision to operate the route.”

This step comes in line with EgyptAir  network expansion plans which aim at covering the widest network of major economic and touristic destinations.

Capt Alaa Ashour, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Airlines said as he added “We are always looking for the demand of our customers, who are the main pillar on which our expansion depend. We will continue to offer new destinations and more frequencies to meet our customer needs.”

EgyptAir  will use its modern B737-800 fleet on the route. These are configured  with 24 business class seats iwhich the airline said will meet the growing demand for business type travel. The seat pitch was increased to hit 48” which exceeds the international norm on medium range aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with the state-of-art entertainment system with Video – On- Demand (VOD) features and laptop power outlets.
