Shell's India joint venture to bring benefit to Middle East carriers and operators

The fuels company - with a regional head office in Dubai - has almost 100 years of experience in the fuelling business and serves Middle East and North African customers with fuel and specialist aviation lubricants around the world.
And now following a new Shell Aviation j oint venture between Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels and Services (SMA), it is able to offer thpse global service standards in India.
The venture means that Shell Aviation (will expand its operations into 12 airports across India to provide airlines fuel at airports located in the cities of Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Calicut, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Coimbatore, and Mangalore – in addition to the airports in Bangalore and Hyderabad where it first started its operations in India in 2008.
Being the only multinational oil company with a government license to market aviation fuels in India, Shell offers international operational and safety standards and best practices that would benefit its airline customers wherever they’re coming from.
Also, in the past couple years that Shell has been operating in India, it has introduced pricing transparency in the country, including using approaches such as Mean of Platts Arab Gulf (MoPAG) plus Differential pricing, which provides more pricing transparency compared to Posted Airfield pricing.
Besides operational excellence and safety, pricing transparency is also key to attracting the carriers to the company
Saudi Arabia's NAS Airways has already identified the price transparency in India has meant it can purchase fuel and a better price than it can in Saudi Arabia itself.

Shell’s entry into India via the joint venture aligns with Shell Downstream’s selective growth strategy, which includes recent global operational expansions at the new Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, London City Airport (LCA) in London, and Roskilde Airport in Denmark (RKE). The aviation industry in India is growing at a remarkable rate, and Shell is very keen to meet the demand for improved fuel delivery in the country.
