Gambia Bird Airlines sponsors Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon

The event will take place on Sunday 25th May in Makeni, the economic centre of northern Sierra Leone and the capital of the country’s Bombali District.
This is the second year that Gambia Bird has been the Official Airline of the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon and the West African carrier will this year also be entering its own team of runners, Team Gambia Bird. The team comprises 10 determined UK athletes, who will arrive in Sierra Leone from Gambia Bird’s UK base at London Gatwick. In addition, runners will be flown in from all over the world to take part in this unique event.
Gambia Bird’s marketing director, Jan Limbach, took part in the 2013 event and said: “Gambia Bird is delighted to again sponsor the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon, which will not only help raise much-needed funds to improve the lives of the country’s children, but will also raise international awareness of the huge potential that this wonderful country holds.
“As one of West Africa’s leading airlines, Gambia Bird is committed to supporting the development of the region’s social and economic infrastructure and our sponsorship of the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon will enable many more children to access educational and social support, and assist their families to build sustainable businesses.
“We wish all the runners every success as they take part in the race, and we look forward to seeing the money raised being used to provide a brighter future for the Street Child charity’s beneficiaries.”
