Under the terms of the agreement, Cavotec and BAC will work together to develop and integrate a comprehensive range of ground support equipment for the Bahrain International Airport.

Dr. Osama Al Ali, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company, said, “With the help and support of Cavotec’s advanced technologies, we will be able to achieve a higher level of efficiency and further streamline our operations at Bahrain International. This agreement is a demonstration of our commitment to strengthening the Kingdom’s pioneering position in the aviation industry, which further strengthens our position as the Middle East’s best airport.”

The turnkey project, which is one of the largest Cavotec has undertaken in its vibrant 40-year, will see the global engineering group integrate a spectrum of state-of-the-art in-ground systems for remote aircraft aprons at Bahrain International. These solutions will include 18 pre-conditioned air (PCAir) systems, in-ground pop-up units, transformer substations, 400Hz power supply systems, a Vacuum Evacuation System, a blue water supply system and a potable water supply system. To be completed by February 2011, the new system aims to create a seamless ground process at Bahrain International Airport, saving both time and cost, and ensuring a competitive edge for the aviation hub.

Cavotec MSL CEO Ottonel Popesco said, “Today’s event underlines the productive and long lasting relationship between Cavotec and BAC. We look forward to growing this dynamic partnership in the future, to continue investing in Bahrain, and to create local jobs, as we have been doing in the Gulf Area area for over 20 years.”

Juergen Strommer, Managing Director at Cavotec Middle East said: “To be able to contribute to Bahrain Airport’s $4.7 billion expansion is a monumental achievement for our company. This is the first time that we are delivering an end-to-end solution of such magnitude in the region and we hope to give it our signature of dedication to cutting-edge technology and environmental responsibility.”
